If you are a worker covered by the “Labor Standards Act” the table below shows the different types of leave and related salary standards:
•Leave“proactively provided”by employers:Salary must be paid in full for menstrual leave, rest days, national holidays, and annual leave
•Personal leave:maximum of14 days per year - Employer not required to pay salary
•Ordinary sick leave (including pregnancy related bed rest leave) :Maximum of 30 days per year for individuals not hospitalized / Maximum of 1 year per 2 years for individuals who are hospitalized - Salary paid at 50% for the first 30 days, not required to pay salary for periods in excess of 30 days

•Public holiday:Number of leave days prescribed by law - Salary paid in full
•Marriage leave:8 days - Salary paid in full
•Bereavement leave:3-8 days of leave depending on the familial relationship - Salary paid in full
For home based foreign workers the number of leave days should be stipulated in the labor contract or determined by negotiations with the employer. However, a minimum of one day of leave every 7 days should be provided. If an employer asks the foreign worker to work on a holiday one day of overtime pay must be paid.*
